Hi, I'm not a professional blogger! I have never seen, heard, or used a blog before. But, what I am about to do for this couple months are:  research and study the history of law on intellectual property (specifically on music laws), research on American Hip Hop and Korean POP( known as K-POP), and produce my own style of music by incorporating both the style of Hip Pop and K-POP with not violating the law of intellectual property.

Law and music seem very much unrelated at first, but they are actually interwoven. Music is not only a bridge of cultural communication, but also a form of universal language. It is also a multi-billion dollar business throughout the globe. Therefore, law comes to importance when we try to protect people who are responsible for creating music from their intellectual property being stolen.

According to John Locke, property is created when one puts his or her labor into what was not already owned.  It is a very simple and basic concept, but when we go in to the notion of intellectual property, it gets much more complicated. First, it is very hard to define an idea as a property because it is difficult to tell who came up with a knowledge in the first place, and how long does that last as the person's personal property. The concept of intellectual property is very broad, therefore I chose music as my medium of research due to the law's interesting character on music and its challenging  grasp of apprehension.

The question is: what is the realm of intellectual property on music, and how can we decide on what is and is not violating the copyright of music? To answer these questions, I must have the knowledge of the law of intellectual property, American and Korean music industry, and history of K-POP and Hip Hop. Now, I'm going to show you the steps of achieving my goal.
